Ms. Pivonka graduated magna cum laude from University of San Diego School of Law in 1979, and was a member of the USD Law Review. She received her B.A. in 1976 from University of California at Irvine (magna cum laude; Phi Beta Kappa). She also attended the University in Bergen (Norway) for the 1974-75 school year through the University of California Education Abroad Program and is fluent in Norwegian.
Ms. Pivonka has practiced in the San Diego and Southern California state and federal courts since 1979, with an emphasis in commercial litigation and creditor’s rights in bankruptcy. She is admitted to practice in all California state courts and the four federal California district and bankruptcy courts.
Ms. Pivonka’s experience includes complex multiple party civil litigation on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. For over 15 years she represented the FDIC and FSLIC in litigation matters involving closed financial institutions. She has extensive experience representing defendants in construction defect cases, representing financial institutions in collection matters, and in defending and prosecuting appellate matters.
